CRPC runs the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program for the Conventional Bullseye Pistol course of fire.
The NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program is a skill development program held on Mondays, during spring and fall for 10 weeks. See our events calendar for specific days.
Shooting begins at 9:00 a.m. and again at 6:00 p.m.
The program is held at the indoor range, 2621 East 7th St., Cheyenne, WY.
The program is open to all CRPC members and the public!
The cost of the program is $30.00.
You do not need to sign-up in advance, bring your fee, pistol, ammunition, and anything else you may need on the first day of shooting. You will be told how the program works and shown the awards for each course of fire. You will be given range rules along with the range commands and how to respond to those commands on the first day.
Shot indoors, this course of fire emphasizes the development of competition bullseye pistol shooting skills.
While some shooters may prefer the course of fire that emphasizes stage (slow, timed, and rapid fire) skill development, others may prefer the course that stresses aggregate (total score) skill development. Both are provided so you can shoot the course of fire that is right for you.
Any .22 rimfire semi-automatic pistol with metallic, telescopic or electronic sights, as long as they don’t project an image onto the target, may be used.
The conventional "bullseye" pistol qualification is fired from the standing position using one hand, except for the first three ratings (Pro-Marksman, Marksman, and Marksman 1st Class) where the benchrest or two-handed standing positions may be used.
You will shoot at B-2 slow fire targets and B-3 timed and rapid fire targets at 50 feet. All targets are provided as part of your paid fee.
Time Slow fire is 10 rounds fired in 10 minutes or less.
Timed Fire Timed Fire is 10 rounds fired in two five-shot strings at 20 seconds per string.
Rapid fire is 10 rounds fired in two five-shot strings at 10 seconds per string.
The aggregate course of fire is 30 shots that must be fired as a complete unit in the same session in order to qualify as a viable course of fire.
Each qualifying course of fire must meet or exceed the minimum score or the complete aggregate must be refired.
In addition, you will need to bring and wear safety glasses and hearing protection while on the range. If you wear prescription eyeglasses and they meet safety standards, you can wear them instead of safety glasses.
You can bring a friend or family to watch, but they must watch from our observation area. Unless you are under eighteen years old, then one adult will be on the range with you.
The program is supervised by NRA Certified Pistol instructors and Range Safety Officers, who can help if you are a novice shooter, but this program does not substitute for the proper training such as the NRA Basic Pistol Course which is available under our training menu.
