The club runs the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program for the Pistol course of fire.
The NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program is a skill development program held on Sundays from fall to late winter.
Shooting begins at 11am, just after open pistol shooting ends and is open till 1:00 p.m. See event calendar for specific days.
The program is held at the indoor range, 2621 East 7th St., Cheyenne, WY
The program is open to all CRPC members and the public!
Juniors (ages 12-17) MUST be accompanied on the shooting line at all times by a non-shooting adult, and the adult must wear eye and hearing protection.
The intent of this program is to encourage the shooter to “practice with a purpose.”
You are competing against yourself and the target, you are not competing against other shooters.
You may shoot the program with any semi-automatic or revolver in good working condition.
We strongly recommend using a .22 caliber (rim-fire) handgun for beginning shooters.
NO .357 magnum, .44 magnum, 5.7×28, .357 Sig, or 17HMR ammo is allowed on the range.
All courses are shot from the 15-foot mark.
The shooter is responsible for providing the handgun and ammunition.
In addition, you will need to bring and wear safety glasses and hearing protection while on the range. If you wear prescription eyeglasses and they meet safety standards, you can wear them instead of safety glasses.
Adults accompanying juniors on the firing line are also required to wear eye and hearing protection.
All targets are provided as part of the fee.
You can bring a friend or family to watch, but they must watch from our observation area. Unless you are under eighteen years old, then one adult will be on the range with you.
The program is supervised by NRA Certified Pistol instructors, they can help if you are a novice shooter, but this program does not substitute for the proper training such as the NRA Basic Pistol Course.
We offer the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting course under our training menu.
The cost of the program is as follows:
- CRPC members with an NRA membership – $40.00
- CRPC members without an NRA membership – $55.00
- Non-CRPC members with an NRA membership – $60.00
- Non-CRPC members without an NRA membership – $75.00
Register for the program here and then show up on the first day of shooting with your handgun, ammunition, safety glasses as needed, hearing protection, your fee in cash or check, and anything else you need.
